Summary of The Course at The End of The Semester.

Time flies, even though this word is spoken by thousands of people, but this word is still the most in line with my current mood at the almost end of this semester. Suddenly, with the approach of the year of 2019, another semester is about to come to an end. Time really went too fast, this semester feels just started, but it will end soon. In this class writing for engineering, I really learned a lot of knowledge and skills that are useful for me and helped me a lot when I about to step into the society, such as personal resume, cover letter, interview report, technical description, group proposal, portfolio and so on. For each assignment assigned to us by professors Mr. B, I completed them seriously and treated those assignments with my best efforts in it. Although sometimes I may get bad grades because of some of my own problems, I never complain because I feel that the pay and return are definitely equal. This just means that I am not working hard enough. However, when this semester is nearing to the end, the plagiarism warning has appeared on our group’s project because of the personal problems of a certain group member. The members of our entire group expressed great regret and frustration with the irresponsibility of the group. Optimistically, after this lesson, I have learned that always to check the quality of the work repeatedly before doing anything and before submitting the work to the superior. But in any case, this semester is a very meaningful semester, and I thank all the classmates and professor around me.

As I just mentioned earlier, this semester we learned how to better write our resumes and cover letters. They are very important skills when we are looking for a job, they can play a decisive key role in whether you can a job or not. Secondly, the interview report, its purpose is to let us as an interviewer can have a better understanding of the objects of the interview. Then there is the group proposal, which is another very important assignment for all members of the group because the members of the group must work together to accomplish this assignment or otherwise the assignment entirely would have failed. Lastly, it is a portfolio, it can help us to know very well on what stage we are doing of what assignment in this semester, and the quality of the assignment completion.

However, I particularly want to emphasize is the presentation in this writing for engineering class because the speech is really important, whether it is in studying, or in life and work, it allows us to improve our speaking ability through continuous exercise and be more proficient in applying this skill in life, study and work. In addition, the technical description is very helpful in my personal opinion. The technical description, as the meaning of its name is just simply a short description of the technical field, through the technical description it can make some specific fields in an area of knowledge become simple and clear. In the end, I would like to mention an assignment, that is the lab report, the lab report is the description and analysis of a laboratory experiment, although it sounds simple, but the actual operation is many-times of attempts to verify the accuracy of the experiment, in order to achieve a precise numerical value.

In this course writing for engineering, one of the most basic but most erroneous problems is punctuation. We often mixed up with the use of the punctuation, such as comma, period, quotes, the use of semicolons, and so on. They seem to be very simple, just like the knowledge we have learned in elementary school, but in practice, we often make jokes, such as the use of periods that are too common, and even do not know how to use semicolons properly. These are very small problems but it reflects a big major problem, that is, we still don’t know enough about the usage of these punctuations. I am an example of people who do not really know how to use these punctuations properly, so this lesson helped me a lot. Fortunately, the problem was solved by professor Mr.B he gave us a very specific description of each punctuation which makes each of the punctuation easy to understand. At the same time, the professor also provides us with many other aspects of knowledge, such as information literacy, citation, drafting, and A& P(Audience, Purpose) But the most useful ones are work-cited and A&P because the keyness and inappropriateness of the reference directly lead to whether your essay is plagiarized, and the A&P helped us directly on writing, such as who you are writing to, it’s important to know who you are writing to and who’s your audience. So these little pieces of knowledge also helped us cleverly bypass some detours on our studies.

Once again, I want to say thank you to all my classmates and especially my professor, because no matter what, I really learned a lot of useful knowledge and skills in this class. Although there are some bumps during the process, I have successfully overcome all of these obstacles. After this class, I think I will become more excellent, knew more knowledge and skills, not only learning skills but more in work. This course is just a lesson in my engineering career, I believe there are still many roads waiting for me. I will keep in mind the knowledge and skills I have learned in this class. In addition, I will also remember the mistakes I have made and the lessons I have learned in this class because my college life is still going on, there is still a long way waiting for me, but the road to the future is laid on the knowledge I have learned so far, so I must keep in mind what I have learned and I will work harder as always no matter what.
